Windows installer

Download Samsung Magician for Windows from Samsung.

Samsung Magician 9.0 is the free Windows drive utility for Samsung SSDs. The install guide asks for Windows 10 or higher and 600 MB of disk space. This page does not serve the EXE. Download for Windows opens Samsung Semiconductor's tools page, which is the publisher's location for the current installer.

File integrity

Magician is proprietary software from Samsung Electronics. There is no public source tree to compile. The honest check is to download the installer from Samsung's tools page and, if you are holding the exact Uptodown copy of 9.0.1.950, compare its SHA256.

d46cf61aa5b5073138e9d063e91f1861776315a14dfca3ffd8724611c21588d8

That hash is Uptodown's hash for 9.0.1.950. It is not a hash for a 9.0.2 file. Inside the installed app, the Update button is how Samsung says you check whether your copy is current.

Antivirus

Samsung's FAQ and the Uptodown page we reviewed do not name a specific false positive from a named antivirus vendor. Do not treat a random download mirror as Samsung's file.

What Samsung does document: a full diagnostic scan can become very slow while Microsoft Defender real-time protection is on. Their guide offers a process exclusion for SamsungMagicianSVC.exe, or a temporary pause of real-time protection. Pausing protection reduces coverage until you turn it back on. The steps are in the Defender guide.

Firmware update also shuts the PC down after 20 seconds. That behavior is in Samsung's limitation list. It is not, by itself, proof the installer is hostile.
